Interview Night at the Scurvy Dog

On Saturday, 10/24/09 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. we'll be conducting more interviews with fans and associates of Neutral Nation at one of my favorite Providence watering holes - The Scurvy Dog.

The Scurvy is located at 1718 Westminster St. in Providence, RI. If you'd like to share some Neutral Nation stories please get in touch, either via the comments or you can get ahold of Dave or myself via facebook at the Neutral Nation Appreciation Society page.

Thanks to The Scurvy Dog for helping us out with this! Hope to see everybody there.

Trailer Park

Midway through trailer cutting. Found the songs I needed. Have a theme in mind. Here's hoping it comes out as cool as it looks in my head!

Recent Doings

Interviewed the great Derrick Hachey on Sunday for the film, was also hoping to get some on camera chat from the former punk rock columnist for the late, lamented NicePaper, Rob Phelps, but with all the craziness surrounding Sunday night's Murphy's Law show (at Club Hell) we weren't able to connect. Too bad, I was always a fan of his columns and I think he would have had an interesting perspective on the Rhode Island punk scene of Days Gone By.

In other news, a rough cut of the opening sequence/montage was put together last week and we are very close to getting a trailer together. Yarworth and Chabot inform me that Neutral Nation are playing a show at the Ocean Mist in late August - will have more details on that as they firm up.

Post-Production...

...has begun! We will be looking for more fan interviews shortly, as we start working on the opening title sequence and Act One. Stumpy goes before the cameras...again...on Thursday.

It's looking (and sounding) real good!

It's a Bash mentioned in Providence Journal

"It's a Bash" director David Bettencourt is premiering "On the Lake: Life and Love in a Distant" place at the Stadium Theater in Woonsocket tonight (you should go, it just got four stars in the Providence Journal!)

In a related article about the making of the film, the "It's a Bash" film was also mentioned.

Bettencourt will not rest on his laurels, however. Already he has begun work on a film called It’s a Bash, about the Rhode Island punk rock band Neutral Nation. “It’s remarkable,” said the director. “They’ve been around 25 years and they are only famous here. Put them in a club in Providence and they will fill the place. Put them in a club in Worcester and they will draw maybe only six people.” In Bettencourt’s hands, however, Neutral Nation has the potential to become nationally famous.

What's Doing in Nation-Land

Oh, we've got stuff set up for this Sunday. Cool stuff, so cool I don't want to type it and jinx it. But rest assured, there is stuff.
